What we do
Koinonia Mission Foundation (KMF) exists to mobilize both short-term and long-term missionaries to fulfill the Great Commission in Japan. We offer a variety of opportunities for those who want to participate—whether through joining a short-term mission trip, making a long-term impact by sponsoring Christian education, or supporting church planting efforts.
We invite you to read on to learn more about our partner churches, ministry opportunities, and how you can get involved!

Current Ministry Involvement In Japan
Children’s Ministry
Assist with Sunday children's programs and afterschool English conversation classes for kids. These ministries provide opportunities to build relationships with families while sharing the love of Christ in a fun and engaging environment.

Special Workshops
Lead or support evangelistic arts and crafts workshops. These creative spaces naturally foster conversations about interests, creativity, and life, creating organic opportunities to share the Gospel in a relaxed and relational setting.

Campus Ministry
Invest in building meaningful relationships with university students through presence, conversation, and intentional friendship, laying the groundwork for future discipleship and church planting.

Outreach & Compassion Ministry
Participate in homeless meal preparation and distribution in the Kamagasaki area (also known as the Airin District), a community with a deep history of poverty, homelessness, and social marginalization. For nearly 40 years, a Christian community center has faithfully served this area with nutritious meals, Gospel tracts, and compassionate care. KMF seeks to continue this legacy, raising awareness and serving a population often forgotten—but never forsaken by God.

English Conversation
Support local missionaries in English-based outreach, helping to build relationships with individuals and families. These connections often become pathways to spiritual conversations and the eventual planting of a local church.

New Partnership Coming Soon
We will soon be partnering with a local English learning center to offer low- to no-cost afterschool English conversation programs, seasonal camps, special workshops, and evangelistic programs that incorporate Christian curriculum. This exciting initiative will expand opportunities for outreach, discipleship, and serving families in the community with the hope of the Gospel.

Short-Term Mission Opportunities in Osaka, Japan
Looking for a meaningful way to serve while experiencing the beauty of Japan? Join us for a short-term mission in Osaka—designed for individuals, families, and professionals alike!

Family-Friendly Missions
Families are not just welcome—they’re a vital part of the ministry! There’s no age limit for children, and childcare can be arranged. When families serve together, they powerfully reflect God’s love through real relationships. Whether helping with kids' programs, outreach, or simply showing up as a family, your presence speaks volumes.

No Language Barrier—Serve in English!
Most ministry opportunities are conducted in English, as many Japanese are eager to learn and practice the language. Japanese translation will be available when needed—especially for activities like sharing your personal testimony during a Sunday service. While Japanese language skills are helpful, they are not required. Speakers of Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) are also encouraged to participate, as these languages are helpful in certain ministry contexts.
Professionals Welcome
Bring your skills and passions to the mission field! Host a workshop, give a TED-style talk, lead a creative class, or share your expertise—whether in business, arts, education, or another area. God can use your profession to build bridges and spark Gospel conversations.
